My 1st Visit Home!

Mid April 2015: Crazy to think I hadn't been home in 7 months, but I guess time flies! During my first assignment, I quickly learned from other travelers that you can take as much time off in between assignments as you would like. So after my third assignment, I took a month off! It was so great not to have to work. As long as you have enough money to cover your bills for that month, you're good. (It also helps if you don't have to pay rent during that time as well). So during my month off, I stayed in SF for a week with Mikey, then went home for about a week before heading to Barbados! My trip home got cut kind of short after Barbados though, because a last minute assignment offer came up that I wanted to take. But I was able to be home for Easter, which was of main importance to me :)

So I arrived on a Friday night into Newark International Airport where my sister and Amanda picked Carson and I up. It was a late arriving flight, so we just slept at my sister's apartment that night. No crazy turn up lol. On Saturday, my sister had to drive down to Philly to have some photos taken by our cousin Alex for her portfolio. So of course, we joined her on this adventure. Anytime my sister and I are together we end up taking a thousand selfies together! It's great lol. It's just like automatic. I think it's because we compliment each other haha oh and both LOVE taking pictures! Here's a few for example...

We had fun at Alex's place. It was a fun/funny photo-shoot. Alex was getting good practice and Brittany was getting free photos. A win-win. I helped by being the "fan girl" lol. I held the fan up high (or down low) to get Britt's hair blowing just perfectly haha...not! It was pretty hilarious I must say. But she got some good pictures!

After the shoot, we headed up to my Mom's house back in Jersey. Was great seeing her as always, and she was really happy to see her little buddy (Carson)! During this trip home, one of the purposes was to clean my room/get and load a storage unit. My mom was moving in a couple months, so I had to get all my stuff out. So I tried to do that throughout my time home. Was a little painful because I'm a hoarder, but I got it done...most of it lol.

I guess eating a cookie makes it all better?! ...my struggle! lol

I was happy to go home and be able to hang out with the people that meant most to me...my Mom, family, friends. I spent some time with my old roommate Emily, stayed with her one night. Sunday night I went out to Reef on South Street with my cousin Lauren and some of my other Philly friends. I got to visit Deb and her new baby! (Deb is the owner of Philly Dance Fitness...you know the Zumba classes I always talked about and went to...yea her classes. Amazing lady! Love her. She really inspires me). I also was able to squeeze in a quick dinner with my friend Brittany. Time wasn't on our side, but we made it happen. Overall, I had a good time and it was great to see everyone!

So like I previously mentioned, my trip got cut about a week short. During my layover home, I got a voicemail with a job offer for Marin General Hospital in Marin County, California that was starting the day after Easter. I accepted the job, but told them I wouldn't be able to make it until that Tuesday the earliest. The manager said that was fine, so that's what I did! I got to go to Easter Dinner! I've always been a family person, so being able to get together for this meant a lot to me :)

I got back from Barbados that morning, Easter Dinner that afternoon, back to Cali the next day. The life of a travel nurse...
